SHELLEY P. MORKOVSKY

Shelley P. Morkovsky has practiced law for over 11 years, and has in-depth experience in representing business entities and individuals in a wide range of real estate and finance transactions.  She is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the area of Commercial Real Estate Law. 
 

Shelley is originally from the Clear Lake area of Houston.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 1989.  She earned her law degree cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center where she served as an Articles Editor of the Houston Law Review, and was a member of the Order of the Barons.

Shelley joined the firm in 2010.  She began her legal career in the Houston office of Winstead Sechrest & Minick, PC (now Winstead).  Since moving to San Antonio in 2001, she has developed her practice as an associate in the Real Estate and Corporate Finance Section of Cox Smith Matthews Inc. and an associate in the Transactional Section of Oppenheimer, Blend, Harrison & Tate, Inc.

Her experience includes the representation of lenders and borrowers in conventional loans, construction loans, SBA loans, lines of credit, private placements of debt and other financing alternatives.  She also assists lenders with nonjudicial foreclosures of real and personal property collateral.  Shelley represents clients in connection with real property acquisitions and sales, all types of leasing including office, retail, industrial and residential, and the transfer of oil & gas interests.  She has represented both municipalities and developers with regard to economic development projects, land use issues and zoning. 

Memberships, Community Involvement and Service 

Shelley volunteers her time in various civic and professional organizations, such as the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, where she serves on the Finance Committee, previously having served as Chair of the Central Area Business Council and as a Chamber board member.  She is also active in CREW-San Antonio, where she serves as 2011 President and Delegate to the national CREW Network, previously having served as Director of Programs.

Shelley is a member of the State Bar of Texas, its Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section, the San Antonio Bar Association, and the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association.  She was recognized as a 2011 Best Lawyer by S.A. Scene magazine.
Personal
Ms. Morkovsky and her husband, Russell, have been married for over 20 years and have three children.  For fun, she enjoys camping with her family at Texas state parks.
